How to shrink pores on your face?
Eliminating enlarged pores on the face once and for all. This is a claim you often hear in advertisements. Let's find out if it's really possible to get rid of enlarged pores on the face permanently and what methods are effective for this.
Enlarged pores with oily skin
There are several skin types: oily, combination, dry, and normal, which almost no one has but everyone has heard of. For oily skin, enlarged pores are the most obvious sign, which is due to genetic factors and your skin type. For combination skin, enlarged pores are mainly in the T-zone: the forehead, nose, cheeks, and chin.
So, if you have a genetic predisposition to oily, porous skin, no matter how much you want it, no methods will eliminate pores completely and forever or make your skin as smooth as a baby's.
Why do pores enlarge with age?
There is an age factor. For example, in your youth, your skin might be perfect with no enlarged pores. But over time, pores become wider and more noticeable. This is because, as we age, our production of collagen and elastin decreases, making the skin more atonic and saggy. The pores can no longer contract, and we start to see them on the face. I will explain now what can be done in both cases
Home care for reducing pores in oily skin
If your skin is naturally oily and porous, as I said, you won't be able to completely eliminate all pores, but you can take measures to make them less noticeable and your skin more even.
To do this, the pores must be clean. Oily skin produces a lot of sebum. In addition to sebum, hyperkeratosis occurs, pores get clogged, and thus appear enlarged. You need proper home care using acids and retinol, which will reduce and normalize sebum production, exfoliate dead skin cells, and this simple and accessible method will significantly improve your skin's appearance.
Procedures for reducing pores
The second method for cleansing pores is regular facials performed by an aesthetician. For example, once every 2 months. Always monitor the skin's condition. After the procedure, your pores will be clean, your skin will be free of comedones and blackheads, and it will be able to breathe.
Facials can be combined with chemical peels. Peels contain acids that soften the sebum in the pores and facilitate easier cleansing. Peels reduce pores, even out skin tone, and normalize sebum production. It's an excellent procedure, I recommend it.
Hardware methods for reducing pores
There are several excellent hardware methods for reducing pores. Let's start with IPL Phototherapy. Many people think that phototherapy is for treating pigmentation or broken vessels. But that's not entirely true. IPL light heats the skin, improves fibroblast function, stimulates collagen and elastin production, and normalizes sebum production. With IPL, you get even, smooth, radiant skin because the procedure increases firmness, evens out tone, reduces pores, and gives your skin a glow.
IPL phototherapy is perfect for both young skin 25+ and more mature skin.
The second method for reducing pores and rejuvenating skin that I want to tell you about is RF microneedling. This method is more suitable for mature skin with enlarged pores because, in addition to smoothing pores, it tightens the skin and stimulates collagen and elastin production. It's exactly what mature skin needs when it becomes saggy and less firm, which is why pores become wide.
The impact of needles with a radiofrequency pulse causes skin trauma. The skin always responds to trauma by regenerating, prompting cells to produce new, young collagen. Plus, there is heating during this process, which also forces the skin to produce more collagen.
As a result, after a course of RF microneedling, your pores will shrink, and you will also see skin lifting, increased firmness, and reduced fine lines and wrinkles. We also treat the area under the chin, which helps reduce fat deposits and lift the skin. If you have a double chin, it will become smaller.
An aesthetician will advise you on what pore-reducing method is right for you and how to prepare for the procedure during a consultation.
To summarize, three actions are needed to reduce pores: cleanse the pores with facials by an aesthetician, use home care with active ingredients like acids and retinol, and use hardware methods for pore reduction, such as IPL phototherapy or RF microneedling.
